I grew up in a family that fished. My grandparents owned a fish camp when I was young, and both my father's family and my mother's family were Florida crackers who did a lot of fishing. My grandfather was one of the pioneers of commercial worm farming. My father taught me to fish, and I taught my children to fish and love to fish with my grandchildren. How do you view fishing with your family?

The first time I went fishing was with my mom and my dad. We had previously lived smack dab in the middle of the dessert and I had never even seen water.

Well, one day after we moved to the East Coast, my folks and I decided to rent a little boat, paddle our way out to the middle of a lake and fish.
It was terrible! We caught nothing but mosquitoes. I swore I'd never go fishing again.

A few months later, I was out drinking with some friends who were a little more country than my parents. We ended up drunkenly going to Walmart, buying rods and bait and heading out in the early morning to fish and drink a bit more. Well, I caught 3 fish that night, and never looked back. Been fishing all the time since then, with my friends who are like family, and my blood.

Fishing in my life was just nonexistent. I did go fishing to a place called Caswell State Park, but I did not get any fish so I lost interest. I just do not have anyone to go fishing with so I did not develop a hobby for fishing.
